Amsterdam BeatClub 7,5 Anniversary
Party at Paradiso Bovenzaal, Nov.6th 2010!

In early 2003, as a reaction to the poor nightclub-action at that time, a group of friends and colleague-deejays (Ir.Vendermeulen, Charley Rhythm, Wilf Plum, Eddy de Clercq, Piet Popcorn) started Amsterdam BeatClub. These parties often feature live music, Burlesque-shows, à Go-Go-dancers and cult veejay-visuals. First starting out at ultra-small underground venues, Amsterdam BeatClub soon turned out to be a huge succes and with that more
parties came and venues grew..

Nowadays Amsterdam BeatClub is produced by "The Dynamic Duo" Ir.Vendermeulen and Charley Rhythm and it's widely considered an important Dutch organisation for Vintage Music, with a steady following from around the country and outside.

At Amsterdam BeatClub you can expect an un-beat-able Cocktail of the very best Vintage Music: Greasy Soul, Swingin' Sixties Sounds, Rhythm 'n Blues, Horny-Hammond-Jazz, Beat, Twist à-GoGo, 60's Garage, Psych, YéYé, Steaming Ska, Exotica, Rock 'n Jive, and Cool Cover versions!

Many great bands and artists have performed over the years: The Sonics, Arthur Brown, Big Jay Mc.Neely, The Phantom Four, Jacqueline Taïeb, Os Mutantes, The Madd, WestHell 5, GONN, Hausmagger, Messer Chups, T-99, The Five Aces, Batman&Robin, to name just a few..

And now, on Nov.6th, it's time to celebrate Amsterdam BeatClub's 7,5 years anniversary with a GRAND PARTY at Paradiso Bovenzaal!

ABC-deejays Ir.Vendermeulen and Charley Rhythm will be spinning the best Vintage Wax from their extended record collections, beautiful and rare cult-visuals will be show on the big screen and 2 top surf-bands will play live sets: The Messer Chups (Russia) and The Anacondas (Amsterdam). On the same night The Anacondas are celebrating their 10th anniversary with the release of their new album "BadBuzz" !

Both organisors of ABC were booked at the prestigious Dutch 'Boekenbal' 2010, where the most known writers gather togerther to drink, party, network etc. Ir. Vendermeulen (alias Mr. Mills) played saxophone with the West Hell 5 who where situated in a box ring, making the writers dance on their Spy and Mod jazz tunes.
DJ Charley played the records and was interviewed unaware of his Panama Hat looking kinda funny, in effect making him look like one of those 1940's comedians....lots of fun that night!

16-07-2010: Legendary Brasilian 60's band Os Mutantes!
at Amsterdam BeatClub in de Tolhuistuin.
Psychedelic rock, samba and bossanova, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, avant-garde poetry and theatre are the ingredients of the Tropicalia-music made by legendary 60's band Os Mutantes.
This Brasilian band is also known for inspiring and influencing Kurt Cobain, The Flaming Lips, Devendra Banhart and Beck.

Amsterdam BeatClub FESTIVAL
The very first ABC Festival took place at OT 301 on 22nd of May
Both the café/restaurant, the main concerthall + the barroom were filled with audience, bands, dj's,dancers and fun!
The audience enjoyed some special performances from West Hell 5 who played a set with 'new' soundtrack for cult movies on the big screen. March 30th 2010 

18 sept 2009 - Amsterdam BeatClub at release-party of Gainsnord! Forty years after the release of "Je t'aime. moi non plus" 18 bands and artists from Belgium and the Netherlands have recorded their favourite Gainsbourg number for "Gainsnord". Although their songs are disguised as soul stompers, piano ballads, swinging rumbas and damping dubs, no matter what they've done, the numbers are simply brilliant. It just goes to show how much Gainsbourg's work continues to inspire musicians and bring out the best in them..READ MORE

DJ Ir. VenderMeulen, one of the Amsterdam BeatClub founders has been interviewed by Het Parool about his exclusive Beatles and Stones cover song collection which he played at Paradiso on june 24th '09.

GONN, a legendary sixties garage band, played in June '09 during a wild ABC (Amsterdam BeatClub) party at Maloe Melo. VPRO 's "3 voor 12" was present and made a story about it.
